Hargeisa (SLpost)- The Somaliland House of Representatives has approved a resolution calling for justice over the 2024 killing of Abdinasir Muse Dahable in Mogadishu, urging international and local human rights institutions to pursue accountability in the case.
The resolution, approved by an overwhelming majority on Monday, attributed responsibility for Dahable’s killing to Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the Director of the Somali Air Traffic and Airspace Management authority, and the Director of Somalia’s intelligence agency.
Dahable, who was originally from Somaliland, worked for Somali Air Traffic and Airspace Management authority. His body was reportedly discovered inside the hotel room where he was staying in Mogadishu in 2024.
The Somaliland House of Representatives called on international human rights organizations, as well as Somaliland-based human rights institutions, to intervene in the case and support efforts to bring anyone found to have been involved in the killing before the law.
Second Deputy Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives, Ali Hamud Jibril, who read the resolution before parliament, said lawmakers were acting within their responsibility to defend the rights and interests of Somaliland citizens.
He said the House would pursue all available avenues to seek justice for Dahable and his family, emphasizing the need for accountability over his death.
A total of 42 lawmakers were present during Monday’s session. The resolution received 41 votes in favor, while the Speaker of the House did not participate in the vote.
The resolution represents a formal parliamentary demand for further action over Dahable’s death and places renewed attention on a case that has raised concerns in Somaliland. The allegations against the named Somali officials would require an independent investigation and supporting evidence to establish individual responsibility for the killing.
