The Somaliland Government and Ministry of Defense would like to inform the international community, regional governments, and the United Nations that we have received credible intelligence indicating that forces from the Puntland Administration of Somalia, including PSF and The Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF), are planning an attack on the National Army of the Republic of Somaliland in the coming days.
The Republic of Somaliland takes this threat seriously and has taken all the necessary steps to safeguard Somaliland’s people and territories.
Unfortunately, Puntland Administration has chosen to be so hostile towards Somaliland. We want to be clear, however, that we will not back down or surrender to any aggression. We will defend ourselves and our people with all available resources.
We urge the international community and the United Nations to condemn this unjustified act of aggression and support the Republic of Somaliland’s right to self-defense. In the event of an attack, Puntland Administration will be held accountable for their actions.
We hope the disputes will be settled peacefully and that Puntland Administration will reconsider its confrontational stance toward Somaliland.
The Republic of Somaliland remains committed to peaceful coexistence and cooperation with all our neighbors, but we will not hesitate to defend our citizens, territory, and sovereignty when necessary.
