Helsinki, Finland (SLpost)- The Somaliland community in Finland has hosted a reception for Abdikani Isa Maygaag, Head of Training of the Somaliland Police Force, during his official visit to the Nordic country.

The event, led by Somaliland Community Chairman Hassan Omar Hurre, brought together community leaders and members of the diaspora to discuss support for Somaliland’s security institutions and opportunities for international cooperation in police training.

Maygaag briefed attendees on ongoing efforts to strengthen the professionalism and capacity of the Somaliland Police Force and thanked the community for its warm welcome and continued support.

Discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing police training programs, strengthening cooperation between Somaliland and Finnish institutions, and identifying ways in which the diaspora can contribute to the professional development of Somaliland’s security sector.

Abdikani Isa Maygaag briefed attendees on ongoing efforts to improve the skills, professionalism, and operational capacity of the Somaliland Police Force. He highlighted the importance of international cooperation and knowledge-sharing in modernizing law enforcement institutions.

The reception was also attended by Sultan Abdi Kayd Mohamed, a senior traditional leader within the Somaliland diaspora community.

The gathering underscored the growing role of Somaliland’s diaspora in supporting national development and strengthening ties between Somaliland and international partners.
