Hargeisa (SLpost)- World Remit, electronic worldwide money transfer company, has provided a new service for its customers in Somaliland, who can receive money from their abroad relatives through Telesom’s Zaad Service.
Suad Yusuf Odowaa, World Remit’s Country Manager in Somaliland, has today announced the new Service during a press conference in Hargeysa’ Mansor Hotel, where she revealed the amount of money a person can receive from abroad through his/her mobile.
“We are very pleased to announce that it is now possible for our clients in the various countries of the world to send $1-$2,500 directly from their homes, offices etc. to their relatives, friends in Somaliland,” Ms Suad announces, adding that the new direct online money transfer service utilizes Telesom operated Zaad mobile money Service, that is sponsored by HomeSend platform which is operated by eServGlobal.
Earlier this month eServGlobal launch HomeSend remittance services to Telesom after the two companies entered into an agreement which in-turn facilitates World Remit to use Zaad Service.
“Having entered into an agreement with HomeSend service, we are able to connect our clients in the diaspora with their local remittances recipients who use the Zaad Service.”
Ms Suad who says that her company which is among world leaders in online Money Transfer, declared that all their customers in the UK, India, Malaysia, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Canada, Australia, France, Netherland, Greece, Germany and others in Europe can now take advantage of starting the direct money transfer services.
She further informed that her company was motivated into entering this new venture after having realized that most recipients of remittances based in the rural areas waste a lot of precious time and funds as they travel to major towns to collect remittances.
While the condition for receiver is that they must be registered Zaad users in Somaliland and clients wishing to utilize this service must be World remit account holders, “This will facilitate their withdrawal of funds for transfer,” Says Ms Suad
