HARGEISA (SLpost)–The Minister of Health Dr Hussein Mohamud Mohamed (Hussein Hog) has staunchly refuted reports of polio re-emergence in Somaliland contrarily to reports carried by local media outlets. Dr Hussein Mohamud Mohamed speaking to the media during a press conference held at the Ministry of Health said that is polio free and not even a single case of the disease has been reported for the last five years.
The Minister of Health said the recent reports of polio re-emergence had caused panic and alarm both locally and internationally alleged that the recent reports carried in Haatuf and Saxansaxo newspapers
were false and baseless, he urged the media outlets to refrain from falsely reporting and that they should verify the information before highlight the news.
Dr Hussein said the Hargeisa General Hospital for the first time since it’s established, it provides a superb healthcare with improving the quality , safety, efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare for all Somalilanders , he added of lately “the hospital has seen a surge of foreign Doctors who provide specialized and free treatment to patients at the hospital.
