France(SLpost) The French President Francois Hollande, in one of his final acts as leader, inaugurated a new stretch of high-speed railway on Tuesday.
The most unpopular president since WWII, Hollande is not standing again and has been dogged by mishap for the last five years, and even now there’s no end to it.
His press conference was interrupted by gunfire.
It appears a police sharpshooter’s gun went off when he was changing position on a rooftop a hundred metres from where Hollande was speaking.
Hollande stopped briefly to express his concern, and then continued his speech.
“The two people injured were hit in the calf, or in the fibula, between the calf and the fibula; one in the right leg, the other in the left leg,” said the head of the police in the Charente region Pierre N’Gahane.
Hollande was able to conclude his business and maintain his schedule. The police officer concerned is likely to face a disciplinary hearing for his poor handling of his weapon
